Cosgrove, Delia

Delia Cosgrove graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1989. Her career in academia started in 2004 as the coordinator of the then newly established German Research Foundation-funded fellowship course 1045 on “Modulation of host cell functions as a new approach to treating viral and bacterial infections” at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In 2009 she moved on to her present position to focus on the detailed formation of the Graduate School of Biomedical Science (BIOME) and has been responsible for the daily management and general development of the extensive biomedical doctoral training programme since then.

Establishing a European scientific research and training network has been a consistent aim of Delia’s since 2011. Close collaboration with colleagues at IRUN-associated universities led to laying the immunologically-focused foundations upon which the successful COST Action BM1404 rests today. As the Action’s Grant Holder manager at the University Hospital Essen, she actively contributes to the conceptualisation and development of Mye-EUNITER as well as overseeing its annual work and budget plan. Delia has the core group tasks of communication and dissemination.
