Our research interest focusses on innate immunity, phagocyte biology, danger associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) or alarmins of the S100-protein family. Our translational approach focuses on the early phase of inflammation in clinically relevant diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory bowel or pulmonary diseases, infections and allergies. We have specific expertise regarding the role of S100-alarmins in the modulation of myeloid differentiation and/or activation.

Models available:

Experimental models of inflammation in mice: allergic and irritant contact dermatitis, arthritis, experimental autoimmune encephalitis, Leishmaniasis, S. aureus infections.

Cells available:

Murine and human granulocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, myeloid regulatory cells (MRCs), murine HoxB8 myeloid cell lines obtained from different knock-out and transgenic backgrounds.

Technology available:

Molecular imaging in vivo in mice (MRT, PET, CT, optical imaging). Imaging flow cytometry.
